00RESOLUTIONNO.10-18SUPPORTINGIMMIGRATIONREFORMWHEREAS,EstesParkisamulticulturalcommunitybuiltontheaspirationsandhardworkofpeoplewhohavecometogethertolivehereandrecognizesandwishestomaintainthebenefitsofenhancedculturaldiversityprovidedbyourimmigrantcommunity,andWHEREAS,thecommunityofEstesParkwouldbegreatlydiminishedshouldtheimmigrantswhohavelivedhereformanyyears,attendedourchurches,residedinourneighborhoods,broadenedourvision,andenrichedourfriendshipshavetoleave,andWHEREAS,EstesParkisamountaintownwhoseeconomyisdependentonthetourismvisitationtotheareaandespeciallytheRockyMountainNationalParkwithcurrentvisitationofapproximately4.5millionvisitorsperyear,andWHEREAS,aforcedreductionoftheimmigrantandforeignworkforceasaresultofchangesinvisapoliciesandcurrentimmigrationenforcementrulingswouldhavenegativeimpactsontheeconomyofEstesPark,andWHEREAS,aforcedreductionoftheimmigrantworkforcewillnegativelyimpactanintegralpartoftheEstesParkcommunitybypossiblyseparatingfamilieswhosechildrenmaybeUnitedStatescitizens,andWHEREAS,aforcedreductionoftheEstesParkimmigrantworkforcewouldlikelyresultinaparallelreductionintheEstesParkschoolstudentpopulationresultinginreductionsinoverallschoolincomeandthereducedabilityforournowexcellentEstesParkschoolsystemtoprovidethebreadthofeducationalopportunitythatitdoesnow;NOWTHEREFOREBEITRESOLVEDBYTHEBOARDOFTRUSTEESOFTHETOWNOFESTESPARKinordertoprotecttheeconomyandthestabilityoftheEstesParkcommunity,theEstesParkBoardofTrusteesurgetheelectedColoradoCongressionalDelegationinWashingtonDCtousetheirpowerstoachievepassageofcomprehensiveU.S.immigrationreformthatresultsinresolutionoftheimmigrationrelatedproblemsnowfacingourcommunityandcountry.DATEDthis22.-dayof__________2018.ATTEST:ccZsi.-.T6nClerkTOWNPARKMayor
