Candidate: Cindy Younglund

Prior Experience - Career Information: Co-Owner and Founder of Stapelman Natural Meat Company 1983-
1990; Daycare provider 1983-1989; Nursing both in Nebraska and Colorado 1992-1995; General Manager
– Co Owner Wildwood Inn Inc. 1994- Present; GM- CO Owner Estes Mountain Stays 2022 – Present
Previous Participation on Town Boards or Committees: Currently serve on the Town Board as Trustee, Town
liaison for the Police Auxiliary, voting member of the Region 3 Opioid Abatement Council and formerly
served as a liaison for the Parks Advisory Committee and Family Advisor Board. Previous
Board/Committee Experience: Estes Park Chamber of Commerce, One of the Founders of Estes Area
Lodging Association, President and board member, and Estes Park Wedding Association.
Educational Background: Estes Park High School; 1979; Wayne State College - Business ; Northeast
Community College, Nursing 1990
Narrative:*
Being a native of Estes Park I attended K-12. After studying business and nursing, and working in both, I helped
my parents start Wildwood Inn in 1994. I was very active in the lodging community serving on the final Chamber
board and being instrumental in the startup of Estes Area Lodging Association where I served several years as a
board member and president. I was very active in the wedding association.
I have been fortunate to serve for the last 4 years as Trustee to the Town Board. Serving my community in this
capacity has not only been an honor but a learning experience which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The last four
years have given me an opportunity to help find solutions to the many challenges and that face our community
and surrounding Estes Valley. Childcare, workforce, affordable and attainable housing, environmental
sustainability, mental illness, drug/alcohol recovery, building codes, and land use issues are just a few of the
concerns I have worked on. Since my first day as a Trustee, I have worked very hard to always be prepared,
educated on the subjects, all the while being open-minded, eager to listen, learn and look for solutions that
represent our community in the best way possible. Reelecting me to a second term will not only allow for
continued experience, passion, and continuity to be represented on the board, but an assurance that I will
continue doing the best job possible for our community. Thank you for your support
