Harger Years in Estes Park: Just over two years Prior Experience - Career Information: I was a Sheriff's Deputy with three different departments. I retired from the Bernalillo County (Albuquerque, NM) Sheriff's Office in 2018 I then spent three plus years with the Taylor (TX) Police Department. I officially retired from Law Enforcement in 2021. I currently work as the Maintenance Lead at Trout Haven Resorts. Previous Participation on Town Boards or Committees: I have not served on any type of Board or Committee but I do either attend Board Meetings or I watch them online. Educational Background: Graduated from Texas Christian University in 1998 with a Bachelors of Science In Criminal Justice. Graduated from the New Mexico Basic Police Academy in 1999. Graduated from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Academy in 2005 Narrative:* My dad is from Estes Park, so growing up we spent a lot of time here in the summers. My parents moved back to Estes Park approximately 12 years ago and so I spent every free minute I had visiting and enjoying everything that Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains have to offer. I was able to move to Estes Park a little over two years ago. I always knew Estes Park to be a quaint mountain town, peaceful, quiet and usually full of visitors. I understand that in any thriving community progress has to be made. The question is do we want to progress as the quaint mountain town that we always have been, or do we want to progress to be the next touristy spot like Breckenridge or Steamboat Springs? Working in the tourist industry and speaking with many visitors in town, most say that they come to Estes Park instead of the Touristy spots because of the quaint mountain town that it is. Estes Park is one of the most unique towns in Colorado. For most of my adult life I have not been a public employee rather a public servant. I spent all of that time responding to the needs of the community and doing all I can to benefit that community. I would like to do the same for this community. Please join me in this adventure.
