HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Building Code Committee 1968-05-01RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Building Code Committee Hay 1,1968 Committee:Chairman Steele;Trustees Dannels and Petrocine Attending:Chairman Steele;Trustee Dannels Also Attending:Building Inspector Hackett and Town Clerk Hill Absent:Trustee Petrocine Mr.Fred Jansen and Mr.George Munroe appeared before the Committee and explained the position of the Public Service Company in regard to the use of copper piping in structures being supplied natural gas. Mr.Jansen made the following points in his discussion on the effect of natural gas on copper piping: 1.Commercial propanes are permitted to have as much as 15 grains (volatile sulfur)per 100 C.F.of L P gas vapor. 2.Public Service gas has a maximum of .6 grains per 100 SCF. 3.USASI B 31-8 permits maximum of .16 grains Hydrogen Sulfide per 100 SCF. 4.Public Service gas has tested a minimum of .04 and a maximum of .16 grains Hydrogen Sulfide per 100 SCF. 5.PUC regulations require natural gas to be “substantially free of impurities that can cause corrosion”. 6.Section three of the gas franchise held the Town of Estes Park harmless in case of Public Service Company negligence. After considerable discussion the Committee tabled a decision on the proposed gas code. Building Inspector Hackett was instructed to follow the existing ordinances and codes in regard to septic tanks. There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
