Building Code Committee
April 29,1964
Committee:Chairman C.M.Hunter;Trustees Harry Tregent and
Henry Dannels.
Attending:Chairman C.M.Hunter;Trustees Harry Tregent and
Henry Dannels.
Also Attending:Building Inspector Ted Hackett and Town Clerk Dale Hill.
Mr.M.R.Thompson appeared before the Committee to express his opinion
that the current illuminated sign permit fee was completely inequitable.
He suggested the Committee consider changing the above-mentioned fee.
Building Inspector Hackett presented the following fee schedules on
the following cities:
Fort Collins:Fees charged as per valuation of sign using the
uniform Building Code Valuation Schedule of fees
per thousand plus an additional charge for
electrical signs of $3.00 for the first ballast
and $1.00 for each ballast thereafter.
Boulder:A flat fee of $3.00 per sign,plus $1.00 for
each transformer on electrical signs.
Creeley:Fee of $1.00 for the first 25 square feet or
fraction thereof,and an additional $.50 for
each additional 25 square feet or fraction
thereof.No differential charge is made for
electrical equipment.
After considerable discussion,the Committee decided to recommend the
Board of Trustees adopt the following schedule for all sign permits:
Up to and including $700.00.$5.00
More than $700.00,to and including $1,000.00 6.00
Each additional $1,000.00 or fraction,to and
including $25,000.00 3.00.
Each additional $1,000.00 or fraction,to and
including $50,000.00 2.50
Each additional $1,000.00 or fraction,to and
including $100,000.00 1.50
Each additional $1,000.00 or fraction,more
than $100,000.00 1.00
The above schedule is the same schedule now used by the Town of Estes
Park for building permits with the exception of the $5.00 minimum.
The Committee instructed Building Inspector Hackett to review the
entire sign ordinance and recommend further changes if necessary.
