SERVICE BUILDING COPIER -REVIEW OF BIDS. The Committee reviewed the following copier bids for the Service Building: 5-Yr.Extended Cost/Ownership, Maintenance, Base Bid Operation Minolta 3120 $1,730 $2,802 Xerox 5012 1,767 2,823 Canon NP 1020 1,430 2,822 Based upon 5—year costs,the Committee recommends accepting the bid in the amount of $1,730 submitted by Minolta.The Public Works and Water Departments will also have use to this copier which will be located in the Light and Power Service Building. COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT -AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE. $2,000 was included in the 1990 Budget for the purpose of providing radio communication equipment in the control buildings at the Tallant Park and Marys Lake Substations.With the purchase of this equipment,it is anticipated response time in outage situations and communications during normal switching operations should be improved.The cost,which includes a portable radio and charger connected to an externally—mounted antenna,is $1,819.20.Utilizing portable radios,staff intends to have the antennas installed at each substation and test the broadcast range.If it is determined that the portable radios do not have sufficient range to meet the Department’s needs,staff reported they would so advise the Committee prior to taking further action.The Committee recommends the Department be authorized to purchase the equipment from Motorola as identified above,for a total expenditure of $1,819.20. PUBLIC POWER WEEK. The Committee reviewed a proposed resolution recognizing and designating the week of October 7 -13,1990 as Public Power Week in Estes Park.Staff also requested authorization to expend a not—to—exceed amount of $1,000 to promote the week’s activities. The Committee recommends approval of the resolution and budget. REPORTS. Installation of the underground circuit and associated transform ers and equipment along the Riverwalk should be completed this month.The overhead lines will be removed as soon as the o BRADFORD PUBLISHINGCO.RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee —August 2,1990 —Page two contractor converts all of the overhead services to underground from the Kuntry Kitchen to the Cantina. Additional decorative street lights for EPURA Projects have been delivered.The Cleave Street lights should be in place and lighted by the end of this week;the lights for the small park and playground area on the south side of Parking Lot #2 should also be installed this week.Further installation of lights along the Riverwalk will be delayed until such time as the globes are delivered. William Shaffer has been selected as Estes Park’s recipient for the EPPIC Award.The Award Breakfast will be held in Longmont October 8 at 7:00 A.M. The RMEL Fall Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Beaver Creek September 9 —11,1990. The Town could experience a 6%increase on their wholesale power bill if WAPA’s entire proposed federal power increase becomes effective this fall. PRPA members will be meeting to discuss conservation programs on the national and local level.Additional information will be forthcoming. Regarding the Longmont Substation fire,the Committee discussed the status of the Town’s insurance policy particularly pertaining to substations.Staff will review said policy and report to the Committee. Following receipt of the Delinquent Account Report for July,the Committee recommends the report no longer be prepared for the Committee -staff will monitor these statistics and report to the Committee should major changes occur.
