NEW BUSINESS:
1.A report was given to the committee on public reaction to the Christmas
billing which for the past number of years has been reduced by 50 percent.
About 75 percent of the people paying bills at the counter express dis
satisfaction,not over the 50 percent reduction,but over the period
covered by the reduction.
The method now being used actually covers the approximate period of
November 16th to December 27th.These two dates are the maximum figures.
The first book read is usually the 17th of the month,and the last book
read will be about the 28th of the month.There are 17 books.Very
little of the Christmas holiday period would be affected by the reduction.
The committee unanimously agreed that in so far as possible the period
covered should affect the holiday period and therefore recommend that
the Board of Trustees grant approval to the change.
2.A letter was read to the committee from Ed Schultz relating to noise
interference and contamination brought about by the new sub-station.
As explained to the committee,the Town has cooperated with Mr.Schultz
in trying to determine the source.This has resulted in several outages
and a certain amount of labor cost.Nothing conclusive has been ker
mined to date.
The committee has suggested to Sweetland that certain investigative
steps be taken first,such as Warranty agreements with Westinghouse
Electric,or possibly special equipment which could be rented,in order
to determine location and extent of noise conditions.
3.With reference to Pine Valley Unit #1,request for electric service,
the committee authorized the Light and Power Department to provide an
engineering estimate of cost to study the capacity of the South line
and its ability to serve.This is being done pending an expected
hearing with the Public Utilities Commission in the near future.The
committee believes that a study should be made by an independent
engineering firm and that the information be available at such time
as it may be needed.
There being no further business,the meeting was adjourned.
