LIGHT AND POWER COMMITTEE

This special Light &Power Committee meeting was called for the purpose
of discussing with Mr.Donald W.Smitherman and Mr.W.A.Rose the various
details in relation to a Light &Power extension into Big Elk Park.Mr.
Smitherman provided the information to the Committee that the REA will
furnish him an electric extension at the total cost of $3,600.00 with
payments over a five-year period at $720.00 per year.This compares with
the Town of Extes Park’s extension policy which provides for a cash-in-
advance payment of $6,135.98.Mr.Smitherman also stated that the REA
was interested in trading some territory near Glen Haven called Glen Echo
for the Big Elk Park territory.Mr.Smitherman also stated that the Glen
Echo territory is not yet official and will not be until such time as the
Supreme Court makes a decision.
It was the opinion of the Light &Power Committee that the Town could not
make a trade in territory until such time as an equitable exchange were
possible.Mr.Smitherman asked for consideration in the Town’s Light &
Power extension policy to the extent that he would be permitted to pay
the total cost,$6,135.98,in yearly payments over a five—year period.
Chairman Brodie polled the members of the Light &Power Committee,and
the following are the expressions ofopinion:
Chairman Brodie —-recommends present Light &Power
extension policy remain in effect.
Trustee Tregent —-recommends present Light &Power
extension policy remain in effect.
Trustee Hunter --recommends five-year provision for
payment of extension,
There being no further business,the meeting was adjourned.
