Home My WebLink AboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1972-12-01n m RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee Meeting December 1,1972 Committee:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Wagner and Burgess Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Wagner and Burgess Also Attending:Superintendent Dekker,Business Office Manager Duncan USBR MEETING: Superintendent Dekker reported on a meeting with Bureau of Reclamation officials in Salt Lake City on November 29 concerning the availability of power supplied by the Bureau through March 1976.Additional power required after 1979 must be obtained from some power source other than the Colorado River Storage Project.The PRMPA was formed for this purpose and will be supplying the supplemental power. SMIThERMAN REQUEST FOR POWER: Superintendent Dd4er reported on a request from Mr.Smitherman,and a request from Mr.Barrett,for power extended to their area in Big Elk Park.The request is tabled until Superintendent Dekker can further pursue the matter through P.U.C.and will report back at the next meeting. REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATIONS: A request for additional Christmas trees on Highway 7 was made to the Department.The Committee recommends adhering to the decision made in September to add only six new Christmas trees to light poles in 1972. REQUEST TO EXTEND CHRISTMAS LIGHTING PERIOD: The Committee recommends turning off Christmas lights according to the present policy of the first working day after New Year’s Day. PAINTING OF SCENES: Since some of the Christmas scenes painted by Buell Porter need repainting, the Committee recommends having the work done by a professional sign painter. RECORDER FOR CHRISTMAS MUSIC: The Committee recommends the present recorder for playing Christmas tapes and purchasing a new tape recorder for use by the Town Council. HYDRO PlANT AUTOMATION: Superintendent Dekker reported that an engineer from R.W.Beck and Associates came up to examine the Fall River power plant but has not yet submitted his recommendations and cost estimates for automating the Fall River hydro plant. DISCONNECTS FOR NON-PAYMEIff: Superintendent Dekker presented a letter f!om Leonard M.Campbell, Attorney at law,to Town Administrator Hill concerning the request for a hearing by a delinquent customer.The Committee recommends that Mr. Campbell’s letter be made a part of these proceedings.The Committee RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee Meeting December 1,1972 Page two DISCONNECTS FOR NON-PAYMENT:(continued) further recommends that any such request received by the Business OfficeshouldbeconsideredbytheLightandPowerSuperintendentbeforeserviceisdiscontinued.If requested,the Superintendent shall extend an invitationtothecustomertodiscussthereasonfordelinquency. RODEO GROUNDS SOUND SYSTEM: The Committee recommends upgrading sound system at the Rodeo Grounds,purchasing any necessary equipment required.Superintendent Dekker will report the progress on the sound system. It is the understanaing of the undersigned that the PUC may beconsideringtherevisionofitsrulesandregulationstoprovideforsuchahearing.In the meantime,on behalf of yourmunicipalityyoumaywanttoconsidertherequirementthat,ifthereisarequestforahearingbyadelinquentcustomer,somemanagement-employee of the municipality’s utilities departmentshouldconsidertheobjectionsbeforetheserviceisdiscontinued.We are forwarding arbon copy of this letter to Mr.Hartwell. No action is contemplated by the undersigned concerning thisinformation,but it was thought you might desire to considerJudgeWinner’s decision.
