HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1973-11-02RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee Meeting November 2,1973 Committee:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Wagner and Burgess Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Wagner and Burgess Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Superintendent Dekker, Business Office Manager Duncan Absent:None SERVICE BUILDING PROGRESS REPORT: Superintendent Dekker reported that moving to the new facility was completed in October.The old service building was made available to the Public Works Department by November 1,1973.Considerable shop equipment was left in the building for use by the Public Works Department.For that equipment,the Committee recommends a reimbursement in the amount of $2,000.00 from the General Fund. CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS: Superintendent Dekker advised that Mr.Newby,a retired professional sign painter,is repainting the Christmas scenes painted originally by Buell Porter.Total expenditure will be approximately $300.00 for the project. Installation of Christmas scenes will begin November 12th,to be completed by November 30th for the Lighting Ceremony.Christmas lighting is scheduled to be turned off the first working day after New Year’s.Estimate cost of labor and materials for Christmas lighting amounts to approximately $8,500.00 for the season.The Committee recommends contributing $100.00 toward the home lighting contest as requested by the Chamber of Commerce. ANERICAN PUBLIC POWER ASSOCIATION: Superintendent Dekker advised of a proposed membership fee increase from 4.17 cents to 4.70 cents per $100.00 of power revenue.The Committee expressed no objection.Superintendent Dekker requested permission for himself,his foreman and one additional employee to attend an Engineering and Operating Workshop to be held in Denver during February 1974.The Committee recommends approval. PLATTE RIVER POWER AUTHORITY: Superintendent Dekker reported that PRPA has advised its members of a probable rate increase in January of at least 6.7th on wholesale power.From a PRPA board meeting held October 10,1973,members have been given a directive to install capacitors on their power lines to maintain a 957 power factor.Cost of the installation for Estes Park will amount to approximately $2,000.00. The Committee recommends approval. SNOW BLADE FOR SCOUT: Superintendent Dekker reported that a 6½foot blade manufactured by Elder will cost $588.60 installed.The Scout will be used to clean the road leading into the service building and area surrounding.The Committee recommends approval. WAGE INFORMATION: The Committee held a general discussion concerning wages.Information is being forwarded to the Administrative Committee for consideration.
