HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1973-08-03n RECORD OP PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee Meeting August 3,1973 Committee:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Wagner and Burgess Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustee Burgess Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Superintendent Dekker,Business Office Manager Duncan Absent:Trustee Wagner INCREASED COSTS OF PURCHASED POWER: Beginning July 26,1973,the PRMPA-USBR master contract will become effective.All future power billings for the Town will be made by PRMPA.Billing for the last five months of 1973 will reflect an increase of approximately l57.In 1974 this increase may go to approximately 207g. PRMPA assessments for 1973 will amount to approximately $8,000.00. RATE STUDY PROPOSALS: Proposals have been received from R.W.Beck and Miner and Miner.After January 1,1974,Superintendent Dekker will make a firm recommendation. BASE STATION REPLACEMENT: Superintendent Dekker requested permission to replace the present base station which is seventeen years old at a cost of approximately $1,300.00. The new station will have increased wattage from 50 watts to 110 watts which will give better transmission reception.The Committee recommends purchasing a new base station. SUBSTATION PAINTING: Superintendent Dekker reported that painting of the substation has been completed by the contractor. SERVICE BUILDING PROGRESS: Superintendent Dekker reported that grade beams are being poured and should be completed within the period of one week.The steel building shell should be erected shortly after September 1,1973. SUBSTATION SWITCH FAILURE: A substation switch failure resulted in blowing three 115,000 volt primary fuses.Three new fuses were purchased to replace the blown fuses at a cost of about $300.00 each.The Committee approved purchase of three spare fuses.A Westinghouse engineer repaired and tested the damaged equipment and it is back in service. LIGHTNING DAMAGE: Recent severe lightning storms have destroyed several distribution transformers and approximately fifty primary fuses according to Super intendent Dekker. cc RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee Meeting August 3,1973 Page two MATERIAL COSTS: Increased material costs range from ten percent to fifty percent according to quotes received by the department. APPA ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE WORKSHOPS: Town Administrator Hill presented a request to send Business Office Manager Duncan to attend a workshop to be held September 10--13,1973, in San Francisco.The Committee recommends approval.
