HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1974-01-03RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Cousnittee Meeting January 3,1974 Committee:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Wagner and Burgess Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustee Burgess Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Superintendent Dekker Business Office Manager Duncan Absent:Trustee Wagner STREET LIGHTING REVIEW: Superintendent Dekker presented a street lighting map which shows the lights to be disconnected in consideration for the current energy crisis.Town Administrator Hill presented a report from the Special Street Lighting Com mittee which met on January 2,1974.The Committee recommends accepting the report and commends the members of the Special Lighting Committee for their work and suggestions.The report is attached and made a part of these proceedings. NEW SERVICE TRUCK: Superintendent Dekker submitted a request for a four-wheel drive pickup to replace the 1969 pickup presently used by the Light &Power foreman.The Committee recommends tabling the request. RATE STUDY PROGRESS REPORT: Superintendent Dekker advised that an appointment has been scheduled with the rate engineer for January 4,1974,to determine information required. AMERICAN PUBLIC POWER ASSOCIATION,F &0 WORKSHOP: Superintendent Dekker advised of a national workshop in Denver on February 25 -28,1974 for Engineering and Operating personnel.Trustees are wel come to attend and Superintendent Dekker will check on the cost of a one day only registration for Committee members. ADS FOR JOURNEYMAN LINEMAN: Superintendent Dekker reported that one reply has been received as a result of advertising in the Des Moines Register,Omaha World Harold and Kansas City Star for a journeyman lineman. There being no further business,the meeting adjourned. Lloyd Al/Duncan,Business Office Manager JAN 14 1974 TOWN OF ESIFj P ..(BOARD DF TRUSTEES FROM:Special Street Lighting Committee (Hill,Dekker &Ault) TO:Light and Power Committee PRESENT STREET LIGHTING: In consideration of the current energy crisis and at the direction of the Light and Power Conunittee,we have reviewed the present street lighting as is now installed.We have considered both the safety effect as well as the aesthetic effect that will result in disconnecting cer tain street lights. The street lighting map shows the lights suggested to be disconnected (q). The wattage to be disconnected amounts to the following: 45 —250 watt lights —11,250 watts 39 —400 watt lights —15,600 watts 1 -500 watt light -500 watts 27,350 watts The disconnected wattage would amount of 27,350 watts or 2O7 of the total street lighting (136,550 watts). NEW STREET LIGHTING: This Committee suggests a moratorium on the installation of new street lights. The exception would be lights required for public safety purposes.
