HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1975-06-05CO 0° RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light &Power Committee /June 5,1975 Committee:Chairman Petrocine Trustees Wagner and Burgess Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustee Burgess Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Director Dekker, Finance Officer Duncan,Administrative Assistant Middaugh Absent:Trustee Wagner ELECTRIC POWER RESEARCH INSTITUTE RESEARCH &DEVELOPMENT CONTRIBUTIONS: Director Dekker presented a letter from American Public Power Association requesting a contribution to support research and development projects on underground cable,solar power,generation with solid waste and load management.The Committee recommends nonparticipation at this time. POWER PURCHASE AND SALES REVIEW: Director Dekker advised that the cost of wholesale power from Platte River Power Authority will increase at the end of the current year.The Committee recommends that the Town staff investigate procedures necessary to implement a retail electric rate study and report preliminary information at the next meeting. PLATTE RIVER POWER AUTHORITY REPORT: Director Dekker reported that the Organic Contract approved by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park has been executed by Platte River Power Authority.Approval and execution by the other Platte River Power Authority members will follow this month.Mr. Dekker also reported that Utah International,the source of coal for the PRPA plant at Craig,is bringing suit against the Yampa participants in an effort to void or renegotiate the 95,000,000 ton Craig Station coal contract executed two years ago.Mr. Dekker further reported that a decision probably will be made soon whether or not each participating city in Platte River Power Authority should have more than one director to perpetuate the continuity of information in the event that the current director should become incapacitated. CURRENT ACTIVITY REPORT: a)Hot Line School:Director Dekker reported that the Hot Line School attended by two linemen was worthwhile in that it provided hot line bucket truck training and advanced underground training. b)Work Orders:Director Dekker reported increased activity in work orders for new services. c)Street Lighting:Installation of street light bases on Fall River should be completed by next week.The selection of the type of light fixture has not yet been made.Sodium vapor lights probably will be the selection.
