HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1980-12-05BRAOPORD PUBLISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S Light &Power Committee -December 5,1980 Committee:Chairman Burgess,Trustees Graves and Houston Attending:All Also Attending:Mayor Tregent,Light &Power Director Dekker CABLEVISION OF ESTES PARK: Chairman Robert E.Burgess opened the meeting to discussion of Cable vision service in Estes Park.Approximately twenty—five persons appeared and several offered comments regarding service to the schools, connecting fees,existing and future quality of service,and expected program offerings in the future.Mr.Carl Occhionero addressed all of the comments and discussed the economics of the system.He also stated that Liberty Communications is in the process of selling Cable vision of Estes Park and that Town Board approval of the new purchaser will be requested soon.Mr.Occhionero implied that future service will depend on the purchaser of the system but that serving the schools will be pursued immediately. “PASS ON”RATE INCREASE: The Committee reviewed the information prepared for the PUC filing of the proposed rate increase passing on the increase in the wholesale power rates.If approved by the PUC,the rate increase will become effective on January 7,1981.The Committee recommends adoption of the ordinance enacting the “pass on”rate increase. HIDDEN VALLEY SKI AREA POWER CONTRACT: Light &Power Director Dekker discussed possible changes in the power contract for Hidden Valley such as reducing the number of meters to one,relocating the meter to the power plant and having the National Park Service/Recreation District assume the responsibility of main taining the underground line to Hidden Valley.Also suggested was having Max Kiburz review any revisions to the contract and the costs of Mr.Kiburz’s services being divided by the entities involved.The Committee recommends the Light &Power Director pursue renegotiating the contract as discussed. RATE CLASSIFICATION ASSISTANCE TO CUSTOMERS: The Committee felt that a service should be provided to all electric residential customers assisting them in choosing the proper rate classi fication when the new rate structure is established.The Committee had discussed obtaining proposals for a computer prograni which would print numerous examples of rate comparisons from which the customer could then review and make a decision concerning his own particular situation. Proposals for the computer program were received from Cy Wood for $700 and from NCR for $1,500.The Committee recommends accepting Mr.Wood’s bid for $700. REPORTS: Several culverts of the new storm drainage system in the Light &Power shop area have been installed.The project should be completed within the next week.
