CABLE SYSTEMS UPDATE:
Mr.Steve Anderson,representing Cable Systems,was present and
gave an updated report on the status of the cable television
company.Several problems have occurred such as:employee
turn—over;the underground cable located at Rock Acres had been
cut five times,difficulty in obtaining right-of-way easements in
High Drive Heights,interference from the Translator Company,
and difficulty in prosecuting cable theft.
A “Proof of Performance”was conducted by the F.C.C.this past
summer.The system was “not in too bad a shape.”
Radiation leaks have also effected the reliability of the
television picture.The cause of the leakage was due to cracks
in the cable.
Extensions of service have taken place in Carriage Hills,Koral
Heights,High Drive,Charles Heights,Mall Road and Venner Ranch.
During the last year,Cable Systems has built or replaced
approximately 22 miles of plant.Service is usually extended to
an area when there are approximately 40 homes per mile.
The main receiver at the top of Prospect Mountain has been
relocated to 405 Stanley Avenue.There will now be two receivers
located on Stanley Avenue thus enabling easier access to their
equipment;however,the off—air signal antenna will remain on
Prospect Mountain.The entire system will not be off the air
more than 24 hours when the remaining equipment is relocated to
Stanley Avenue.
The video equipment has been delivered to the High School.As of
this date,the School does not have the capability of broadcast
ing.Cable Systems will connect the School when all equipment
has been moved off Prospect Mountain.Channel 10 was dedicated
as a “local access channel”,therefore,the School will most
likely be using Channel 10.
The Town radio base station also has been causing interference
with Channel 4.Cable Systems is checking on this problem and
hopes to alleviate the radio interference as soon as possible.
Member Laing expressed appreciation from the Town and Merchants
for the large amount of cable and time donated by Cable Systems
for the downtown outdoor Christmas music.Mr.Anderson informed
the Committee the cable is a permanent fixture now,and in most
cases will be left in place.
VEHICLE BIDS:
Director Dekker submitted the following vehicle bids for one

A Dodge pick-up truck will be the trade-in vehicle.The 1-Ton
Truck will be used for the compressor and related equipment;the
old compressor will be sold when the equipment is transferred to
the new truck.Slow delivery is expected on the 1-Ton truck;±6
weeks is the expected delivery on the pickup.Discussion fol
lowed with the Committee recommending the vehicle bid in the
amount of $17,379.09 be awarded to Davidson Chevrolet.
Director Dekker also informed the Committee it has been suggested
the Town should bid all Town vehicles at one time.The Committee
recommends Director Dekker be authorized to bid the Light and
Power vehicles with other Town departments.
REQUEST TO EXTEND CHRISTMAS LIGHTING -WINTER FESTIVAL COMMITTEE:
In a letter dated December 4,1984 submitted by Darlene Richards,
Chairman,Second Annual Winter Festival,a request was made to
extend the length of time the Christmas decorations and lights
would be displayed in Bond Park.The Winter Festival is being
held January 4 -6,1985.Christmas displays and lighting are
generally removed the first working day after New Years.The
Committee recommends extending the Christmas displays and light
ing for Bond Park through January 6,1985.
REPORTS:
Negotiations are proceeding for the Rocky Mountain National Park
Service to acquire the Town’s rights located at Cascade Dam.
The Town’s application for a preliminary permit for the Olympus
Water Power Project submitted July 24,1984 has been accepted.
In an effort to keep all contractors and realtors fully aware of
the “Demand Rate”affecting all new residential demand customers,
the Light and Power Department will be taking positive steps to
have informational packets available.
Director Dekker advised the Committee “Energy Tax Credits”will
run out in 1985.The program is very good and encourages energy
conservation.Additiona.l information will be available at a
later date.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
