HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Miller's Indian VillageØfvc 4 t?u 1Zio QEte.ark,Qrolorabo ci damation WHEREAS,the Miller family has been a part of the downtown business community since Charles and Charlotte Miller arrived in Estes Park in 1935 and opened their original Miller’s Curio Store;and WHEREAS,in 1954,the Millers opened the Indian Village Trading Post at the corner of Elkhorn and Moraine Avenue,in a historic building that once housed the original Hupp Hotel of 1907;and WHEREAS,Miller’s Indian Village has remained a downtown landmark for 67 years,and a popular destination for locals and millions of visitors,with its unique variety of apparel,gifts, collectibles,jewelry,books,postcards,toys,and much more; and ‘WHERFAS,the location has been famous for its iconic storefront and its neon sign seen by countless travelers en route to Rocky Mountain National Park,many of whom were given directions with six helpful words:“Turn left at the Indian Village”;and XVHEREAS,we celebrate the legacy and longevity of Miller’s Indian Village and its 67 years as a vibrant and joyful part of the downtown business scene and shopping experience. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,do hereby recognize MILLER’S INDIAN VILLAGE and express its sincerest gratitude to the Miller family for the enormous part Miller’s Indian Village has played in the economic health of Estes Park for nearly seven decades. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused this seal to be affixed.
