HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION 75-21RESOLUTION75-2]SUPPORTINGTHEPUBLICHEALTHORDERISSUEDOCTOBER15,2021,BYTHELARIMERCOUNTYPUBLICHEALTHDIRECTORWHEREAS,thevirusthatcausesCOVID-19iseasilytransmittedanditiscrucialthatthespreadofthevirusbereducedtoprotecttheabilityofhealthcareproviderstohandletheinfluxofnewpatients;andWHEREAS,wearingafacecovering,incombinationwithphysicaldistancingofatleast6feetandfrequenthandwashing,mayreducetheriskoftransmittingtheCOVID-19virusbyreducingthespreadofrespiratorydropletsandairbornetransmission;andWHEREAS,onAugust11,2021,thePublicHealthDirectorstronglyrecommendedthatallcommunitymemberswearfacecoveringsinpublicindoorsettingstopreventthespreadofCOVID-19duetotherapidlyincreasingthreatoftheDeltavariant,primarilyamongunvaccinatedpeople;andWHEREAS,thePublicHealthDirectorcontinuestocallonunvaccinated,eligibleresidentstomakethedecisiontogetvaccinatedwithoutdelaytoprotectthemselvesandothers,reducethespreadofCOVID-19,andmitigatemanyoftheserioushealthimpactsunvaccinatedpatientsfacewhentheycontractCOVID-19;andWHEREAS,LarimerCounty’sseven-dayaverageofnewCOVID-19caseshascontinuedtorise,evenafterthePublicHealthDirector’srecommendationtowearfacecoveringsinpublic;thenumberofpatientshospitalizedwithCOVID-19inourlocalhospitalfacilitiesservingLarimerCountyresidentshasalsocontinuedtorise;andourlocalhospitalsreportbeingover100%capacityforIntensiveCareUnit(ICU)beds;andWHEREAS,skilledhealthcareprovidersatourlocalhospitalfacilitiesareconcernedabouthavingthecapacitytoeffectivelymeetthemedicalneedsofCOVID-19andnon-COVID-19patientsinourcommunity,whichmayrequirepatienttransportoutsideofourarea;andWHEREAS,measurestopreventthespreadofCOVID-19arebeneficialtoallsegmentsofourcommunity.Effectivepreventativemeasureshelpourlocaleconomybykeepingourbusinessesstrongandsupportingin-personlearningforourschool-agedchildren;andWHEREAS,thePublicHealthDirectorissuedaPublicHealthOrderonOctober15,2021,requiringeachpersoninLarimerCountytowearafacecoveringwheneverenteringorwithinanypublicindoorspacethatisnottheperson’sresidence orwhileusingtheservicesofanytaxi,bus,train,carservice,ride-sharingorsimilarserviceexceptfortheexemptionsoutlinedinthePublicHealthOrder.NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDBYTHEBOARDOFTRUSTEESOFTHETOWNOFESTESPARK,COLORADO:TheBoardofTrusteesoftheTownofEstesPark,ColoradowishestoexpresssupportfortheLarimerCountyPublicHealthDirectorandhisdecisiontoimplementacountywidefacecoveringrequirementinLarimerCounty.TheBoardofTrusteesalsojoinsthePublicHealthDirectorinencouragingeligibleLarimerCountyresidentstogetvaccinated.DATEDthis?C€”dayofcczcsce2021ATTEST:TOWNOFESTESPARK±rkAPPROVEDASTOFORM:TownAttorney
