Mr. Edward E. Edwards, owner of the Continental Restaurant, appeared
before the Board and submitted a request for a variance to the sign
code which would permit him to install a 4 foot by 4 foot attachment
sign to the existing projecting sign. This variance would place the
total square foot of sign area in excess of the allowable 28 square
feet. After considerable discussion, Mr. Edwards decided to place the
proposed sign flat against the building and therefore withdrew his
request for a variance.
Mr. James Knox, owner of the Lake Terrace Motel, appeared before the
Board and requested a variance from the sign code that would allow him
to place his sign in the state highway right-of-way 32 feet back from
the highway center line. Board Member William F. Grove moved Mr. Knox's
request for this variance be denied. Board Member Rollen Sutter seconded
the motion. Upon roll call the motion passed by the following votes.
Those voting "Yes" Members Dannels, Grove, Steele, Palmer and Sutter.
Those voting "No" none.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
