Art Exhibit Loan Program. Artists displaying their work in the
conference center have agreements expiring December 31, 1991. The
Committee recommends extending the Agreements to June 1, 1992.
TOWN OF ESTES PARK CELEBRATION OF 75TH ANNIVERSARY - REPORT.
Trustee Garrett reviewed a list of scheduled events (revised
December 31, 1991) celebrating the Town's 75th Anniversary. Melody
Page will direct a Historic Play, the Chamber of Commerce is
sponsoring a dinner/dance, and Frank and George Hix are sponsoring
the Anthology of Estes Park. A series of ten bronze reliefs
depicting Estes Park history have been planned. The 2,x2' plagues
will be privately commissioned and donated to the Town for
placement at various outdoor locations. Excellent cooperation has
been received from Advertising Manager Marsh, and Museum Staff.
HISTORICAL MUSEUM - REPORT.
Personnel. Museum Director Swain advised that Betty Kilsdonk has
been hired as Curator, and she will begin her employment January
23. Following review of their schedule and staffing needs,^ staff
and the Museum Advisory Board are requesting authorization to
create a Museum Program Coordinator 6-month, seasonal full-time
position. The Committee recommends approval of the coordinator
position.
History Camp. The Committee received a report on a cooperative
pilot program with the MacGregor Ranch and the Childrens Center to
provide hands-on history experiences for children. Financial
support is being generated by the 75th Anniversary Committee and
MacGregor Ranch, and Foundation for Lifelong Learning.
Director Swain is in the process of submitting a grant proposalfor
approximately $10,000 to the Federal Institute of Museum Services
Conservation Project Support Program. The grant will provide
funding for an architectural survey, storage shelving and
environmental monitoring equipment.
There being no further business. Chairman Barker adjourned the
meeting at 5:06 P.M.
