CHRISTMAS PARADE UPDATE Community Development Director Stamey introduced Connie Boschen, a contract employee of Second Wind, to the Committee. ^ Mrs. Boschen is in charge of putting together this year's Christmas parade. Her recommendations for a parade and downtown^ Estes Park for November 24, 1989, include decorated shop windows containing "live" mannequins, the arrival of Santa Claus, a lighting ceremony that will see the town go from total darkness to total light & singing and musical groups. Several name bands are contacted. It is anticipated that service groups would serve hot drinks during the celebration. The Committee commended Mrs. Boschen on her enthusiasm and inventiveness for the parade and offered their support and assistance. INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT - TOWN OF ESTES PARK AND EVRPD Director Stamey sximmarized the agreement drawn up by Town Attorney Greg White between the Town and the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District. The Town will pay $50,000 to partially fund the operation of Ski Estes Park continue the electrical rate that was in effect for the 1988-89 season, and will provide $10,000 from the 1990 budget for advertsing of Ski Estes Park. Also, the Community Development Committee, in coordination with the EVRPD and Rocky Mountain National Park, market the facilities at Ski Estes Park with regard to attempting to find a private sector operator for the ski area. The Committee recommends approval of the Intergovernmental Agreement by the Town Board. BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Conununity Development Committee - August 10, 1989 - Page two LARIMER COUNTY OVERALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - DISCUSSION Director Stamey reported to the Committee on attending a July 20 meeting of the Larimer County OEDP in Ft. Collins. Member Garrett suggested that the Town should consider appointing an offical representative to present the Town's position. The Committee recommends to the Town Board that Director Stamey be the official representative to that group and that he shall ask one or more committee members to attend future meetings with him. REPORTS Director Stamey reported on meeting with a representative of the Front Range Community College of Ft. Collins. They discussed offering business seminars such as marketing, international trade and job training programs. Director Stamey wants to continue looking into these possibilities for the future. Chairman Dickinson adjourned the meeting at 2:40 P.M.
