WHEREAS,Col.Loren Shriver,United States Air
Force (Ret.),graduated from both the United States Air
Force Academy and Purdue University;and
WHEREAS,Loren $hriver was selected an Astronaut by
NASA in 1978;and
WHEREAS,Loren Shriver was Pilot of the STS-51-C,
launched from Kennedy Space Center in 1985,Commander of
the STS-31 in 1990 which deployed the Hubble Space
Telescope,and commanded the STS-46 in 1992;and
‘WHEREAS,upon his retirement,Loren Shriver acted as Deputy
Director for Launch and Payload Processing at Kennedy Space Center
in Florida;and
‘WHEREAS,among other honors,Loren Shriver has received the
United States Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross and is a member
of the Astronaut Hall of Fame;and
WHEREAS,Loren Shriver and his family now reside in Estes Park,where
he has served as Commander of American Legion Post 119 since 2018.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of
Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby recognize
LOREN SHRWER
and do herby find it an honor and distinct pleasure to present this
Proclamation in recognition of his many contributions and the joy he has
brought to the Town of Estes Park.
