Meeting held at Town Hall in said Town of Estes Park on the 5th day of February 2009. Winslow and Town Clerk Williamson Deputy Town Administrator Richardson Chairman Levine called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. PUBLIC COMMENT. None. ACTION ITEMS. Road Closures for 2009 Special Events - Request Approval. Mgr. Winslow requested approval of the following road closures: • Wool Market - Manford Right-of-Way (ROW) on June 13th and 14th. • Rooftop Rodeo - Manford ROW) from July 7th - July 12th. • Auto Extravaganza - 100 block of MacGregor Ave. • Elk Fest - MacGregor from Elkhorn Ave. to Park Ln. • Parades - Elkhorn Ave. o Rooftop Rodeo - July 7th at 10:30 a.m. o Scottish Highland Festival - September 5th at 9:30 a.m. o Catch the Glow - November 27th at 5:30 p.m. The Auto Extravaganza, sponsored by the Town, also requested the option to close the parking spaces on the east side of MacGregor Ave. depending on weather. After further discussion, the Committee recommended approval of the road closures listed above. REPORTS. Marsh and Communication Coord. Blackhurst stated there has been an increase in digital public relations and the E-Newsletter. Travel Spike continues to tap into social media such as blogs on travel sites to advertise Estes Park. Group Sales Coord. Nikolai stated there has been a drop in conference bookings. The Snow and Ice Conference have discussed eliminating one day of the meeting to lower conference cost and keep participant numbers up. The Committee commented on the quality and the use of a consistent branding style for CVB Stakeholder publication and the new Conference Center brochure. Reports provided for informational purposes and made a part of the proceedings. • Museum Monthly Report • Senior Center Monthly Report Dir. Kilsdonk stated a museum conference would be held in May with 125 participants. Local businesses and groups have been supportive of the conference. The 2009 Citizen Information Academy (CIA) began this week with 25 participants, 23 citizens and 2 employees. Barb Boyer Buck will do a press release each week for the local papers and place the release with photos on the website. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. REPORTS. Reports provided for informational purposes and made a part of the proceedings. • Community Development Financial • Monthly Building Permit Summary Dir. Joseph stated the Building Department has shown a considerable decrease in the number of building permits in January: however, the winter months are unpredictable and traditionally slower. ADMINISTRATION REPORTS. 2009 Shuttle Routes - Administrator Halburnt stated there would be three routes for 2009, the Blue route (Hwy 34), the Red route (Fall River) and the Brown route (Campground). The Fall River route would be new for 2009 and would serve 35 lodging establishments and 725 units to further reduce vehicle traffic downtown. The entire system would serve 79 lodging establishments with a total of 3,335 units. The new route would be a reassignment of the route systems; therefore, no additional cost would be incurred. A new contract with Rocky Mountain Transit would be reviewed by the Committee at the March meeting. The Committee discussed the next steps for the shuttle system including the addition of Fridays during the shoulder season. There being no further business.
