WHEREAS,in order to honor the great
traditions and heritage of Scotland and to pay
tribute to the powerful symbol of the Tartan,that
represents Scottish strength,perseverance,and
reverence for family in Scottish history;and
WHEREAS,April 6th has a special significance for all
Americans,and especially those Americans of Scottish
descent,because the Declaration of Arbroath,the
Scottish Declaration of Independence,was signed on
April 6,1320;and
WHEREAS,The Declaration of Arbroath stands as a historical
landmark in the struggle for the liberty of mankind;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the Mayor and
Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park proclaim April 6,
2005 as
TARTAN DAY
in the Town of Estes Park and recognize and
commemorate the munerous and grand contributions of
the Scottish people to the world.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and caused this seal to be affixed.
