WHEREAS,alcohol and other drug abuse has been Identified as one of the greatest threats to the future of our Nation,and the
15-24 year old age group is dying at a faster rate than any other age group;and
WHEREAS,Itis imperativethat visible,unified preventloneducatlon efforts by communitymembersbe iaunchedto reducethe
demand for drugs;and
WHEREAS,the Colorado Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth,Estes Park,P.A.C.K.,Inc.,and Park School District are
sponsoring the national Red Ribbon Campaign offering citizens the opportunityto demonstrate their commitment to drug free
lifestyles;and
WHEREAS,the National Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated In every community In America during “Red Ribbon Week”,
October24-November 1,1992;and
WHEREAS,President George Bush and Mrs.Barbara Bush are the National Honorary Chairmen,and Governor Ray Romer and
Mrs.Bea Romer are the State Honorary Chairmen to provide this community focus on a Drug Free America and a Drug Free
Colorado;and
WHEREAS,business,government,law enforcement,schools,religious institutions,service organizations,youth,physicians,
senIor citizens,miiitary,sports teams,and Individuals will demonstrate their commitment to drug-free,healthy lifestyles by
wearing and displaying red ribbons during this week-long campaign;and
WHEREAS,the communltyof Estes Park further commits Its resources to ensure the success of the Red Ribbon Campaign;
THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the Town Council of the Town of Estes Park does hereby support October 24-November 1,
1992,as Red Ribbon Week,and encourages its citizens to participate In drug prevention education activities;making a visible
statement that we are strongly commiftedto a drug-free community.
Be It Further Resolved that the Town Council of the Town of Estes Park encourages all citizens to pledge;Drug Free &Proud.
