the federal government is a partner itt investing in small cities,and must be
encouraged to continue to sponsor iwccssarg programs and supportive legislation to improve
communities;and
state governments are partners in investing in snwtt cities,and must be encouraged to continue to
sponsor necessarg programs and supportive legislation to improve communities;and
organizations,businesses,and citizens are partners in investing Lit small cities,mid i;wst be encouraged
to continue to support efforts that make their communities better places in which to live;and
the 1l3oard of Directors a’idthe Small Cities Council of the 2’Iational League of Cities have declared
dune 22,2001 as 2’Iational Small Cities “Jnvesting in Communities”Day;and
‘)Itereas the Small Cities Council of the 2’Iatiotwl League of Cities has challenged alt cities,towns,wi4 villages
across 2Imerica to proclaim 3une 22,2001 as 2latio,wt Small Cities ‘Dnvesting in Commuilties”Dag,and to
conduct activities —such as news conferences,public service announcements,uz4 events in local schools and
communitg centers —on that dag which highlight the different wags in which the federal government,state
governments,organizations,businesses,and citizens partner with small cities to invest in their communities and better
the lives of all citizens;
