HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION National Family Literacy Day 2001-11-01ctJ(ar4 QEtc ark,QIoorabo Lti II WHEREAS,the proHems created Ly illiteracy effect all Estes Park redents through lower productivity and higher social costs as more than 20 percent of adults read at or L’elow a fifth-grade level;and WHEREAS,education is one of the cornerstones of the National Society laughters of the American evolution and your local chapter,Namacua Chapter NSPAR.have actively contrituted to the success of literacy programs through volunteerism;and WHEREAS,in the past year 7,425 members in 1,13 chapters dedicated more than 129,415 hours helping children and adults learn to read;and WHEREAS,the citizens of Estes Park are a contriLuting factor in tutoring, teaching English as a second language,helping students further their education and as volunteers to community organizations. NOW,THEREFORE,E 11 RESOLVEP,that the Mayor and Soard of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park proclaim November 1,2001 as NATiONAL FAMILY LITE1.ACY LAY in the Town of Estes Park,Colorado and all citizens are urged to pay special attention to the continuing need to support a literacy organization.
