\VHEREAS,the number of individuals and families who are homeless in
Larirner County remains a prevalent issue,and
Colorado and
WI-IEREAS,HOPE WEEK is designed to educate the community on the issue of
homelessncss,encouraging all community members to join togethcr to search for solutions and
to work cooperatively to meet the human needs of all Coloradans,and
\VI-IEREAS,Homeless Organizations for Public Education is a coalition of human service
providers,community,governmental and business leaders,those who have been or are homeless,
and concerned citizens who have joined hands to search for solutions to homelessness,and
WI—IEREAS,throughout Larimer County,the Comprehensive Homeless Assistance Team
(CHAT)is working with representatives of the religious community,and both public and
private sectors to educate the community about homelessness and generate support for solutions
to the problems.
NOW,TI-IEREFORE,I,ROBERT L.DEKKER,Mayor of Estes Park,do hereby proclaim
September 21-27,1997,as
1-lOPE (HOMELESS ORGANIZATIONS FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION)WEEK
in Estes Park,Colorado,to honor individuals and families struggling to have a safe,decent and
affordable home and in recognition of HOPE WEEK and the efforts of agencies and individuals
to end homelessness.
