communities and promotes personal well-being,and
WHEREAS,Habitat for Humanity International is an
ecumenical,non-denominational,non-profit home building
organization with more than 2000 affiliates in 17 countries,
and
WHEREAS,Habitat for Humanity of Colorado was
incorporated in 1992 to develop sources of funds,services
and resources,and promote activities to increase public
awareness of Habitat’s work in Colorado,and
WHEREAS,since its inception,Habitat for Humanity of
Colorado has raised over $16 million in matching funds for
local affiliates,and funded more than 1000 homes,
providing housing for more than 2500 people,and
WHEREAS,more than 225 representatives of Habitat for
Humanity affiliates are gathering at the YMCA of the
Rockies in Estes Park,May 6-9 for their annual conference
and preparing to embark on a bold campaign entitled
Much to Celebrate —More to Build ,and
WHEREAS,the goal of the campaign is to build the next 1000 Habitat for
Humanity homes in Colorado in just three years.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of
Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,proclaim May 9,2009,as
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY DAY
and encourage all citizens to support Habitat for Humanity and recognize its
contributions to our communities.
