‘WHEREAS,Giving Tuesday was established as a national day of giving on the
Tuesday following Thanksgiving and Colorado Gives Day was established in
December as a day for Coibradoans to join together with one voice to contribute
to and amplify the efforts of nonprofits;and
WHEREAS,both giving days celebrate philanthropy and volunteerism where all
people are encouraged to give whatever they are able to give because all donations,
whether large or small,can make a difference to nonprofits in need;and
WHEREAS,it is fitting and proper on Giving Tuesday,Colorado Gives Day and on
every day to recognize the tremendous impact of philanthropy,volunteerism and
community service in the Town of Estes Park;and
WHEREAS,giving days offer an opportunity to encourage citizens to serve others
throughout this holiday season and during other times of the year;and
‘WHEREAS,charitable giving in the state of Colorado is critical to providing support that nonprofit
and charitable organizations need to make our state a desirable place to live;and
WhEREAS,the goal of Mountain Strong for Nonprofits and the “Give where you live,work and
play”campaign is to unite all Estes area enthusiasts in support of the vital and hardworking nonprofits
that enrich the community;and
WHEREAS,Mountain Strong for Nonprofits is an Estes Valley giving tool for local nonprofits and
supports the efforts of Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day;and
WHEREAS,the Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center,the Community Foundation of Northern
Colorado and Community First Foundation have become partners with local nonprofits in an effort to
increase charitable giving in Colorado;and
‘WUEREAS,in 2013,more than $27 million was raised on Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day
raised $750,000 in Larimer County and $20.9 million statewide in a single 24-hour period via online
donations;and
‘WHEREAS,Giving Tuesday is December 2 and Colorado Gives Day is December 9 this year and all
are encouraged to give where they live,work and play.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Trustees of the Town of Estes Park
do hereby proclaim December 2,2014,as
GIVING TUESDAY
AND December 9,2014,as
COLORADO GWES DAY
in the Town of Estes park and encourage all citizens to join in support local nonprofits during these
online giving e’
