HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Estes Park Village Band 2012-08-16Qfte park,otorao To clamatlo II WHEREAS,2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Estes Park Village Band which began with eight members when Gary Brown and Mark St.John,who were serving in the Army National Guard Band,believed a village band would be fun for other “retired”musicians,and advertised in the paper;and WHEREAS,the Village Band now contains as many as 50 members from Estes Park and surrounding communities who give of their free time to share their talents and regale residents and visitors with music ranging from traditional marches to contemporary tunes;and WHEREAS,the Village Band annually presents outdoor concerts as a part of the Cultural Arts Council’s summer concert series including the traditional July 4th Patriotic Concert;performs at the Estes Park High School in December,March and May;and participates in the Rooftop Rodeo parade and the Highland festival parade each year;and WHEREAS,these musicians also perform with many other smaller groups to entertain the Estes Park community and its visitors,including the Estes Park Jazz Big Band,Estes Park Music festival concerts,special town events and local club events,as well performing at church services,weddings,and funerals;and WHEREAS,over the past 30 years,the Estes Park Village Band has consistently demonstrated great variety,originality,and evolution to entertain the public and provide a basis for inspiration,reminiscing,and celebrating. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby proclaim August 16,2012,as an evening for celebration of the ESTES PARK VILLAGE BAND in the Town of Estes Park,Colorado,and all citizens and visitors are invited and encouraged to join in the festivities.
