HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Estes Park Museum(tci ark,(otorabo ro clamatto ii WHEREAS,history and heritage are core values in all cultures, and Estes Park is one of Colorado’s most historic communities, and WHEREAS,one of the Town of Estes Park’s guiding principles is to preserve our unique character and history,and WHEREAS,in 1962,occasioned by the removal of historic Stead’s Hotel in Moraine Park and a desire to preserve its artifacts for the benefit of present and future generations,a group of concerned citizens came together for the purposes of establishing the Estes Park Area Historical Museum,and four years later on June 5,1966,celebrated the opening of a small museum building in the northwest corner of Stanley Park,and WHEREAS,in 1991 the Museum became a division of the Town of Estes Park changing its name to the Estes Park Museum,and WHEREAS,during the period of half a century the Estes Park Museum has grown in size,activity,and reputation by collecting,storing,and interpreting artifacts through research,programs,and exhibits that allow both residents and visitors to understand and appreciate the story of Estes Park from its earliest beginnings to the present,and WHEREAS,through all of these efforts the Estes Park Museum,over fifty years,has become an essential and respected part of the Estes Park community,and WHEREAS,the Estes Park Museum is celebrating its golden anniversary throughout 2012,fifty years after its incorporation in November 1962. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Trustees of the Town of Estes Park on this day recognize and celebrate the success of the Estes Park Museum and offer the thanks of the entire community to those men and women whose efforts over half a century have made that success possible.
