WHEREAS,Larraine Darling moved to Estes Park
in 1993 and,along with her husband,has owned
and operated multiple businesses in Town including
Estes Angler and Notchtop Bakery and Café,which
ftirthered her love of baking and of spending the
Thanksgiving holiday with the community;and
WHEREAS,Steve Misch visited Estes Park regularly
since 1983 and moved to Estes Park in 1996,upon which
he began volunteering with multiple organizations
including,Sunrise Rotary,Restorative Justice,Partners
Mentoring,and becoming a Volunteer Ranger with
Rocky Mountain National Park;and
WHEREAS,in 2000,Larraine and Steve saw the need for a
Thanksgiving Community Gathering to feed everyone and to
make the Thanksgiving meal a little bit happier in Estes Park
each year with 19 successful years of spreading the “Spirit of
Thanksgiving”in Estes Park;and
WHEREAS,with many volunteers helping,the Thanksgiving
Community Gathering served thousands each year at Mountain
View Bible Church,with the true meaning of the holiday spread
by “Big Turkey”Steve welcoming all and Larraine holding forth
over the kitchen.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the
Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby recognize,
Larraine Darling and Steve Misch
And do herby find it an honor and distinct pleasure to present this
Proclamation in recognition of their many contributions and the joy they
have brought to the Town of Estes Park.
