HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION 125th Anniversary of Park School District R-3 2008-09-26QEtt Jark,Qlotorabo to clamatlo ii WHEREAS,in 1883 a petition was filed with the Larimer County Superintendent of Schools requesting the formation of a new school district to serve families living in the territory known as “Estes Park”;and WHEREAS,in the Fall of 1883,11 ballots were cast at a meeting held at the Estes Park Post Office in favor of establishing a school district;and the district’s first school teacher was hired at a salary of $40 per month;and WHEREAS,students traveled long distances over poorly maintained roads to attend classes that were held in a variety of locations including the first school house on Elkhorn Avenue, homes,and ranches;and WHEREAS,Park School District R-3 has grown into a district that serves approximately 1200 students in grades Kindergarten through 12 on its recently renovated campus and provides an Excellent Education for Every Student in Every Classroom Everyday to serve as the foundation for a strong citizenship and a healthy society. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby proclaim Homecoming Weekend,September 26th and 27th,2008,as the time to celebrate 125 Years of Education and the 125th Anniversary of Park School District R-3 in the Town of Estes Park,Colorado and all citizens are invited and encouraged to join in the festivities.
