HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION 50th Anniversary of the Estes Park Newcomers Club 2015-03(tc arft,Qtotorabo to tiamatto II WHEREAS,the Estes Park Newcomers Club was established on March i8,1965,and is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015;and WHEREAS,Mrs.Don Hutchins organized the first meeting with 18 members present and Margie Hintz was the first president;and ‘WHEREAS,the purpose of the Estes Park Newcomers Club is to help residents of the Estes Park area learn about the community while developing new friends;and WHEREAS,through the years the Newcomers Club has been instrumental in establishing many events that are now part of the fabric of Estes Park;and “VHEREAS,in 1972,the Newcomers held the first “Holiday House”as a fundraiser for the future hospital;and WHEREAS,in the mid-9os,the Newcomers Club established the Farmers Market;and WHEREAS,the Estes Park Garden Club started as a Newcomers Club interest group; and WHEREAS,the Newcomers Club has been involved in the educational needs of the community including publishing a cookbook in 2005 to raise over $15,000 for educational purposes in Estes Park;and ‘WHEREAS,the Trail Ridge Quilters continue to provide significant support to the hospital through their quilt sales;and WHEREAS,the Estes Park Newcomers Club has over 20 Interest Groups,holds monthly meetings at local restaurants,plans special events throughout the year,and educates their members about volunteer opportunities within the Estes Valley to help residents become involved in the community;and WHEREAS,the Newcomers Club has a number of events planned through the month of March to celebrate this remarkable milestone including a Wine and Cheese Social on March 14,which is open to all former Newcomer Club members. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby proclaim the month of March 2015 as the 50th JEPSARY OF THE ESTES PARK NEWCOMERS CLUB ©2005 www.Munich Attest: AC (256)739-5951 William C.Pinkham,Mayor March 10,2015
