RESOLUTION OF RESPECT AND APPRECIATION
WHEREAS,the Citizens of the Town of Estes Park identified priorities
for the Town to pursue to ensure a vibrant economy and exceptional
quality of life for Estes Park’s residents;and
‘WHEREAS,the Town of Estes Park responded to the community’s top
priorities by proposing a one percent sales tax for 10 years to address
road maintenance,a community recreation center with senior services,
new multi-use trails and more robust emergency response;and
WHEREAS,a group of dedicated,forward-thinking citizens who
believed in the proposal and its lasting effect on the strength of Estes
Park stepped forward to carry the message to the voters of Estes Park in
the April 1,2014 Municipal Election;and
‘WHEREAS,the proponents,who called themselves the “Strong
Tomorrow Task Force,”proceeded with the comprehensive “Stand
Together for A Strong Tomorrow”campaign to promote a “YES”vote on
Ballot Issue iA;and
WHEREAS,the Strong Tomorrow Task Force created and presented
dozens of educational programs to the community;spoke with
hundreds of friends,neighbors and colleagues;wrote countless letters
to the editors and community;reached out to every registered voter
with educational materials,and managed a Facebook page that
garnered nearly two hundred followers;and
WHEREAS,the members of the Strong Tomorrow Task Force raised
significant support from the community through its efforts,collectively
volunteering hundreds of hours solely in the interest of their beloved
community —Estes Park —for its future and most importantly,for its
residents;and
WhEREAS,on April 1,2014,Estes Park citizens showed resounding
support for the “Strong Tomorrow”initiative,and Ballot Issue iA
passed with 65 percent voter approval.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board
of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,by this Resolution and Public
Record,recognize the dedication and leadership of the men and women
of the STRONG TOMORROW TASK FORCE and express profound
appreciation for their service to our community.
