HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION OF RESPECT Norris, Ron 2020-04-28Office of the Mayor,Estes Park,Colorado RESOLUTION OF RESPECT WHEREAS,Ron Norris served the citizens of Estes Park as Trustee of the Town of Estes Park from 2012 to 2019 and as Mayor Pro Tern from 2019 to 2020;and WHEREAS,Ron participated in the community of Estes Park in numerous capacities through a variety of organizations which include Bond Park Master Plan Stakeholder Committee,Community Resources Council Board member,Estes Park Caregivers Support Group,Friends of the Estes Park Museum and Foundation,member of the Historic Preservation Ordinance Committee,and as an Estes Valley Planning Commission member before serving as Trustee;and WHEREAS,during his tenure as Trustee,Ron facilitated the revision,approval,increase, establishment,improvement,and/or implementation of the following: •2013 Flood Recovery Efforts and Flood Plain Regulations •Adoption of New Sign Code •Adoption of Policy Governance •Adoption of the 2009 and 2015 International Building Codes •Adoption of the Estes Valley Stormwater Master Plan •Adoption of the Wildlife Protection Ordinance •Approval of an Economic Development Initiative •Bond Park Master Plan •Complete overhaul of Municipal Court with the hiring of Judge Thrower to replace retiring Judge Brown and hiring of Prosecuting Attorney Rocklin •Construction of Pavilion and Event Center at Stanley Park Fairgrounds •Construction of the Visitor Center Parking Structure •Conversion of the Estes Valley Development Area to the Estes Park Planning Area •Development of Stanley Park Master Plan •Support of Downtown Estes Loop •Formation of the Childcare and Workforce Housing ad-hoc Task Force •Formation of the Family Advisory Board •Graves Avenue Improvements through Safe Routes to School Grant •Installation of Dynamic Message Signs on US36 and US34 •Modernization of the Estes Valley Comprehensive Plan •Moraine Avenue Bridge Replacement •Museum/Senior Center Master Plan •Participated in the Estes Park CentenniaL Celebrations of 2017 •Passage of the lA Sales Tax Initiative •Recruitment and determination to bring Attorney services in-house with the hiring of Attorney Kramer to replace retiring Attorney White •Replacement of retiring Town Administrator Lancaster with the hiring of Travis Machalek •Streets Improvement Plan Utilizing 1A Funds in 2014 •Support for Attainable and Workforce Housing and Childcare Needs Assessment •Support for building the Estes Valley Community Center utilizing IA Funds •Support for Fall River Plan for Resiliency •Supportfor Go NoCO Regional Tourism Act (RTA)Application •Support for the Career and Technical Education (CTh)building for the High School •Support for the Donation of Mrs.Walsh’s Garden to the Town •Support for the Downtown Parking Management Plan •Support for the Downtown Plan •Support for the Estes Valley Watershed Coalition •Support for the K-9 Program •Support for the Larimcr County Mental Health Initiative •Support for the Rocky Mountain Performing Arts Center •Support for the Trailblazer Broadband Initiative •Support for Vacation Home Regulation Amendments •Support for the Veterans Monument Park •Trail System Expansion,Construction &Support of the Estes Valley Trails Master Plan •Water Master Plan WHEREAS,Ron served on the following groups/committees:Chair of the Public Safety/Utilities/Public Works Committee,Community Development/Community Services Committee member,Estes Park Board of Appeals Liaison,Estes Valley Board of Adjustment Liaison,Estes Valley Planning Commission Liaison,Family Advisory Board Liaison,and as Visit Estes Park Liaison. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,by this Resolution and Public Record,recognize the dedication and leadership of Ron Norris and express profound appreciation for his service to our community.
