ORDIILUTCR NO.31 An Ordinance Regulating the Installation and Maintenance of ii1ectrica1 lires and Appliances for Safe guarding life and property and ILicensing Elätrioians within the Town of iistes Park,Colorado. Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Jilates Park,Colorado: Section 1.All electric wiring hereafter installed,including additions,extensions,or changes in existing wiring,used for the transmission of current [for light,heat,or power,in or on all buildings located within the fire limits within the town of Estes Park shall be installed in approved steel conduit or metal moulding.All electric services hereafter installed,for buildings located,either within or without fire limits and within the corporate limits shall be in approved steel conduit,equ.pped at the outer and with an approved service or condulet fitting,and shall run continuously without oit let or junction box,into a service cabinet of approved steel construction,with the Underwriters’label of approval attached thereto.Said cabinet shall be located inside the walls of building in the nearest accessible place to the point where the wires enter the building,but in no case over fifteen (15)feet from the point of entrance.The cabinet shall be.so arranged that the handle of the service switch located therein shall not be over seven (7)feet above a permanent floor.Conduit and cabinets are to be securely bonded and grounded,but in no case shall the conduit system be used to ground secondary systems.Con ductors for all underground services and all conductors 1— Attest Charles F.Hix —,Clerk and Recorder of the Town of stes .Lark,Colorado,do hereby certify that the above and foregoing ordinance was duly published in the Estes Park Trail —a newspaper published and in general circulation viithin the corporate limits of the Town of istes dark,on the ____________________ day of August ,A.D 1924.8th Given under my band and the seal of said August 8th —,1924. I’ .O section 14.Any person or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance,shall,upon conviction thereof,be fined in any sum not less then five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars and costs of suit,and in default of payment of such fine and.costs,such person may be imprisoned until such fine and costs are paid,but not to exceed ninety days imprisonment for each offense. Section 2.No person,firm,or corporation shall engage in the business of installing,altering or repairing electrical wires and aparatus,for arj purpose whatsoever, in the Town of Estes ark without first having procured a license therefor as hereinafter provided.The initi.l fee for such license to engage in the business of installing electrical wiring and equipment shall be lO.OO and the fee for each yearly renewal for such license shall be 5.OO. Each license shall expire on Tnury 1st —of the year following the date of its issuance. Section 3.Before any person,firm.or corpora tion shall be licensed under this ordinance to carry on the business provided for in Section 2 hereof,such person,firm, or corporation shall satisfy the Pire Chief that he or they are competent electricians and thoroughly understand the business of electric wiring.And the Fire Chief shall have authority to require the applicant for said business to furnish him with a certificate from a competent disinterested . -2 i LZ ±20 electrician certifying to the ability and Imowledge of the applicant to do electric wiring and.installation and when the Fire 0hief is satisfied of the competency of the applicant be shall so certify to the Town Clerk and then the Town Clerk will issue the license upon the payment of fees and the filing of a bond as herein provided. -3ection 4.very person,firm,or corporation licensed in accordance with Section 3,shall give a bond to the Town Clerk,in the sum of one thousand dollars,said bond to be aproved by the Board of Trustees and conditioned upon the faithful compliance with the ordinances and.laws relating •to safe electrical construction and agreement to pay all damages,costs and expenses that may be caused by the negli gence of such person,firi,or corporation through failure to comply with said ordinances and laws. 5ection5.Thj ordinance shall not be construed to relieve from or lessen the responsibility or liability of any party owning,operating,controlling or installing any electrical equipment for damages to anyone injured or any property destroyed by any defect therein nor shall the Town be held as assuming any such liability by reason of the requirements herein. ection 6.Any person or corporation violating any of the provisions o-f this ordinance,shall,upon convic tion thereof,be fiiied in any sum not less than five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars and costs of suit,and in default of payment of such fine and costs,such person may be imprisoned until such fine and costs are paid,but not to exceed ninety days imprisonment for each offense. —3— rT ..
