HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE 286-65I ORDINANCE NO.286 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 19 OF THE M[JNICIPAL CODE OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO,BY ADDING SECTION 19.2,THE SAME PERTAINING TO TIRE RESTRIC TIONS ON VEHICLES OPERATING OR MOVING ON THE STREETS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ESTE S PARK,COLORADO: Section 1.That Chapter 19 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the following: 19.2 Restrictions On Tire Ecuipment on Streets. (1)Vehicle Defined.Every device in,upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a public roadway,excepting devices usually moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks. (2)Every solid rubber tire on a vehicle shall have rubber on its entire traction surface at least one inch thick above the edge of the flange of the entire periphery. (3)No person shall operate or move on any street any vehicle having any metal tire in contact with the roadway. (4)No tire on a vehicle moved on a street shall have on its periphery any block stud,flange,cleat,or spike or any other protuberances of any material other than rubber which projects beyond the tread on the traction surface of the tire except that it shall be permissive to use farm machinery with tires having protuberances which will not in the opinion of the Superintendent of the Street Department injure the street,and except also that it shall be permissible to use tire chains of reasonable proportions upon any vehicle when required for safety because of snow,ice or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to skid. (5)The Superintendent of the Street Department,in his discretion,may issue special permits authorizing the operation upon a street of traction engines or tractors having movable tracks with transverse corrugations upon the periphery of such movable tracks or farm tractors or other farm machinery,the operation of which upon a street would otherwise be prohibited under this article. Section 2.The Board of Trustees herewith finds,determines and designates that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,health and safety,and whereas in the opinion of the Board of Trustees an emergency exists,this ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5)days after its final passage,adoption and publication. : Mayor -‘-‘\r.- ATTEST: - Town Clerk -2-
