0RESOLUTIONNO.20-14ARESOLUTIONSUPPORTINGTHEPASSAGEOFLARIMERCOUNTYPROPOSITION200ANDURGINGTHECITIZENSOFTHETOWNOFESTESPARKTOVOTE“YES”ONTHISPROPOSITIONSUPPORTINGTHELARIMERHUMANESOCIETYANDTHECONSTRUCTIONOFANEWANIMALSHELTERFORLARIMERCOUNTYWHEREAS,theLarimerHumaneSocietyisanon-governmental,non-profitorganizationthathasbeencaringforthehomelessandabandonedanimalsofLarimerCountyforoverforty(40)years;andWHEREAS,inadditiontoshelteringandadoptionservicestheLarimerHumaneSocietycurrentlyprovidesessentialanimalcontrolservicestoLarimerCountywhichservicespromotethehealthandsafetyoftheanimalandhumanpopulationintheCounty;andWHEREAS,thecurrentLarimerHumaneSocietyfacilitywasopenedin1974andwasdesignedtomeettheneedsofthepopulationofLarimerCountyatthattime;andWHEREAS,thepopulationofLarimerCountyhasgrownover330%sincethefacilitywasopenedin1974;andWHEREAS,earlierthisyeartheLarimerHumaneSocietywasabletogatherthesignaturesofover13,000registeredvoterssupportinganewanimalshelterforLarimerCountyandfortheinclusionofProposition200ontheNovember4,2014county-wideballot;andWHEREAS,inJuly,2014theLarimerCountyClerkcertifiedthecitizenspetitionandplacedProposition200ontheNovember4,2014ballot;andWHEREAS,ifpassed,InitiativeProposition200willenabletheLarimerHumaneSocietytoconstructanuptodateanimalshelterdesignedtomeetthecurrentandfutureneedsofLarimerCounty;andWHEREAS,forthesumof$.01onevery$10spentinLarimerCountyforatimeperiodnottoexceedsixyears,theLarimerHumaneSocietywillbeabletobetterserveallofthehomelessandabandonedanimalsofLarimerCountyandcontinuetoprovideanimalcontrolandshelteringservicestothecitizensofLarimerCounty.NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDBYTHEBOARDOFTRUSTEESOFTHETOWNOFESTESPARK,COLORADO,ASFOLLOWS:1.TheTownBoardfullysupportsthemissionoftheLarimerHumaneSocietyandforthereasonsaforesaidfullysupportsthepassageofLarimerCountyProposition200.
