HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE 14-82c ORDINANCE NO.14-82 AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF SERVICE CLUB SIGNS ON TOWN PROPERTY WHEREAS,the Colorado Department of Highways is requiring that signs containing local service club emblems and information be removed from highway right—of-ways;and WHEREAS,the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park has determined that the Town should permit signs con taining local service club emblems to be constructed on Town property off of the State Highway right-of-ways;and WHEREAS,Section 17.66.190 (B)(5)provides that signs specifically authorized for a public purpose by any ordi nance shall not require a sign permit and may be of any type,number,area,height above grade,location or illumina tion authorized by ordinance and may be placed in the public right—of-way;and WHEREAS,the Board of Trustees has determined that the construction of a sign containing local service club emblems and information is a public purpose. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO: Section 1.The Estes Park Rotary Club is hereby authorized to construct a twelve—foot high sign as more fully set forth on Exhibit “A”attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2.Said sign shall be constructed on the Town property in the locations more fully set forth on Exhibit “B” attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. Section 3.Said sign shall only contain the club emblems of local service clubs and include only such written 0 0 information as is necessary to inform passersby as to the day,place and hour of regular meetings of said clubs. Section 4.The Estes Park Rotary Club is hereby also authori2ed to construct and erect other signs contain ing only service club emblems and the aforementioned written information on other highway approaches to the Town of Estes Park.The exact dimensions,construction and loca tion of said sign shall first be submitted to the Town of Estes Park for specific approval of said signs. Section 5.The Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado,herewith finds,determines and designates that this Ordinance is necessary for their immediate preserva tion of the public peace,health and safety,in order to provide for uniform sign codes;and whereas,in the opinion of the Board of Trustees,an emergency exists,this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately after its passage,adoption and signature of the Mayor. /“2// —Mayor - I hereby certify that the above ordinance was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees on the 27th day of April ,1982,and published in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Estes Park, Colorado,on thejOth day of April ,1982,all as required by the Statutes of the State of Colorado.
