HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE 06-87Q onDrmIqcE No.6-87 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SirrioN 17.66.040 OF ‘lifE MUNICIPAL CODE OF ‘fifE SOWN OF ESTES PARK, COLORADO,TIE SANE PERTAINING ‘ID SIGNS DISPLAYED ON 1401CR VEHICLES PROVIDING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TRUSTEES OF THE ‘IOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO: SECFICN 1.Section 17.66.040 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado shall tie arnanded to add the following: Subsection 12.Signs displayed on notor vehicles providing public transportation,provided they conform to the following requirements: A.The signs are flat and do not project nore than 4 indies from the surface of the nvtor vehicle. B.No riore than one—third of the surface area of the vehicle is covered by the signs.Surface area shall not include the roof,whls,lights and/or undercarriage of the vehicle. C.The signs shall not be prohibited signs as nore specifically set forth in Section 17.66.190(C). D.Motor vehicle providing public transportation is a notor vehicle operated pursuant to a certificate of public convenience and necessity to cperate as a comon carrier for hire for the transportation of passengers and their baggage,on schedule,issued by the Public Utilities Cawdssion of the State of Colorado.Vehicle which are exempt from regulation as public utilities pursuant to Section 40—15—101,et.seq.C.R.S.1973,are not eligible for an exemption from the Sign Code pursuant to this section. SECTION 2.The Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado, herewith finds,determines and designates that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,health and safety,in order to allow these types of signs prior to the main tourist season.This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days from final passage,adoption and signature of the Mayor.
