AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17.66 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK,
COLORADO,THE SAME PERTAINING TO STRING
LIGHTS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ESTES
PARK COLORADO:
Section 1.That Chapter 17.66.040 of the Municipal Code of
the Town of Estes Park,Colorado,shall be amended thereto by the
addition of subsection 11 to read as follows:
(11)Displays of string lights provided they conform to the
following requirements:
1.They are decorative displays which only outline or
highlight landscaping or architectural features of a
building.
2.They are steady—burning,clear,non—colored bulb
lights.No blinking,flashing,intermittent changes
in intensity or rotating shall be permitted.
3.They are no greater in intensity than five (5)
watts.
4.They are no larger than a General Electric bulb,
Model Number OL7/25 CB/CL or a bulb substantially
equivalent.I
5.They shall not be placed on or used to outline
signs,sign support,awnings and/or canopies.
6.They shall not be assembled or arranged to convey
messages,words,commercial advertisements,slogans,
and logos.
7.They shall not create a safety hazard with respect
to placement,location of electrical cords or
connection to power supply.
S.They shall be placed only on private property.
9.They shall be maintained and repaired so that no
individual light bulb is inoperative.In the event
the bulbs are not maintained or repaired,the string
lights may be removed at the expense of the owner
after giving notice to the owner pursuant to Section
17.66.050 of this chapter.
