Strategic Planning – Review of Citizen Engagement Feedback
Purpose and Background
• Briefly review recent citizen engagement findings (2017 report and 2011 Citizen Survey)
• Review results of Citizen Visioning sessions conducted in May
• Board discussion of issues raised and which ones should become strategic priorities for
the Town.
• Review next steps
o Next week at the retreat, take this information and the issues the board
identifies and incorporate it into long term goals, outcomes areas and shorter
term objectives.

Extend the URA
Capture local leakage
• Quantify the extent of the leakage, volume, seasonality,
types of goods and services
• Public information as a means of addressing the issue (buy
local)
• More aggressive land use oriented programs to further
counter leaking retail. Broadening the choices and
competition in EP as the objective. Immediate candidates

for attention include groceries, family clothing, general
merchandise and petroleum products.
Extend Visitor’s stay
Evaluate and manage downtown parking
Focus marking efforts on 29-40 age segment as well as baby
boomers
Encourage increased participation in EP activities by new residents
and retirees.
Encourage opportunities to diversify the economy, including
targeting web-based enterprises and work from home (lone
eagles) entrepreneurs.
