Home My WebLink AboutRESOLUTION 20-180•CRESOLUTION#20-18ARESOLUTIONINSUPPORTOFTHELARIMERCOUNTYNOVEMBER6,2018BALLOTISSUEFORMENTALHEALTHCARESERVICESFORRESIDENTSOFLARIMERCOUNTYWHEREAS,theterm“mentalhealth”referstocognitive,behavioral,andemotionalwellbeingthatcanaffectdailylife,relationships,psychologicalresilienceandevenphysicalhealth;andWHEREAS,mentalillnessandsubstanceusedisordersareserioushealthissuesfor1in5peopleinLarimerCountyandaretreatablechronichealthconditions;and,WHEREAS,mentalillnessandsubstanceusedisordersareserioushealthissuesforchildren,teens,adultsandseniorsinLarimerCountyand,althoughgreatstrideshavebeenmade,manyofourcitizensexperiencethenegativeeffectsofmetalhealthissuesthemselvesorthroughfamilymembers,neighborsorfriends;andWHEREAS,comprehensive,community-basedservicesthatrespondtothosewithmentalhealthneedsarecost-effectiveandaccesstonecessarymedicationandappropriatetreatmenthelpspreventindividualsfromendingupinemergencyroomsandthecriminaljusticesystem;andWHEREAS,theprovisionofacontinuumofmentalhealthservicesinourcommunityiscriticaltoindividuals,families,schools,businesses,lawenforcementandhealthcareprovidersandthereisastrongandgrowingbodyofevidencethatsupportsthecosteffectivenessandbenefitstocommunitiesthathavesuccessfullyimplementedcontinuumsofmentalhealthandrelatedcare;andWHEREAS,itisinthebestinterestandwelfareofLarimerCountyCitizensthattheyhavetheoptionofvotingonasalestaxtofundmentalhealthcareservicesforresidentsofLarimerCounty;andWHEREAS,thisinitiativewillbegintoaddressthegrowingbehavioralhealthneedsinourcommunity.Becausethisproposalaimstoensurepeoplehaveaccesstothehelptheyneedthroughacontinuumofcareintheircommunityandthattreatmentisaninvestmentinthehealthandwell-beingofourcommunities.NOWTHEREFOREBEITRESOLVEDBYTHEBOARDOFTRUSTEESOFTHETOWNOFESTESPARKdoherebysupporttheLarimerCountyNovember6,2018BallotIssueforMentalHealthCareservicesforResidentsofLarimerCounty.DATEDthisaS’dayofSEeas.zca2018.TOWN0ESPARKj)------MayorATTEST:Clerk
