WHEREAS, human trafficking is a global plague impacting
millions of people each year, including tens of
thousands of Americans; and
WHEREAS, the United States has a substantial human trafficking
problem; and
WHEREAS, human trafficking impacts people across all demographics and
ages, including teenagers and children; and
WHEREAS, the battle against human trafficking includes supporting efforts in
schools, churches, non-profits, across law enforcement agencies, and
businesses through prevention, intervention, disruption and dismantling
human trafficking syndicates; and
WHEREAS, human trafficking victims need the necessary resources, assistance and
support; and
WHEREAS, organizations throughout Colorado increase public awareness of the
human trafficking epidemic that impacts our community, state, nation, and world;
and
WHEREAS, United 2 Stop Human Trafficking (U2S) endeavors to connect regional
agencies, leaders, responders, and organizations involved in the effort to stop human
trafficking - with over 30 organizations currently collaborating - to share resources,
create solutions, and inspire involvement; and
WHEREAS, U2S is holding a United to Stop Human Trafficking Summit on October 3,
2026, at Colorado House of Prayer, 328 Remington St., Fort Collins;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Board of Trustees of
the Town ofEstes Park, proclaim October l, 2026, as
Human Trafficking Awareness Day
and support the efforts of law enforcement and front-line organizations in their ongoing
commitment to combat human trafficking.
