HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Opening of Estes Dementia Day Center 2026-05-12€s;teg ^arfe, Cotorabo roclamation WHEREAS, over seven million Americans aged 65 and older are living with clinical Alzheimer's Dementia; and WHEREAS, the need for specialized, compassionate care and respite for dementia patients and their caregivers is critical in the Estes Valley, WHEREAS, a significant portion of our community is over the age of 60;and WHEREAS, in September 2024, several Estes Park residents met to discuss establishing a Dementia Day Care Center in the community; and WHEREAS, in early 2025, a full committee of dedicated local residents was formed, leading to the establishment of a nonprofit corporation and to the formation of a Board of Directors, thereby enabling planning and fundraising to begin; and WHEREAS, in early 2026, the parish of St. Bartholomew's in Estes Park offered to lease a location for the Center, a generous gesture that reflects their deep commitment to our community; and WHEREAS, on May 4, 2026, the Estes Dementia Day Center opened its doors to serve the community of Estes Park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Board of Trustees of the Town ofEstes Park, welcome and celebrate the opening of the ESTES DEMENTIA DAY CENTER To the Town of Estes Park which has a mission to serve adults with dementia through an enriching day program offering caregivers essential respite time, guided by the values of compassion, joy, dignity, and safety.
