GFCI protection shall be provided for lighting outlets
install on a wall & switches within 3' horizontally & 8'
vertically on wall from the top of the bathtub rim or
shower stall threshold - & include space directly above
(210.8 - 2020 NEC amendment)
BATHROOM CLEARANCES:
Toilets - must be provided with a minimum of 21 inches in front of the toilet and
lavatory. Toilets must also have 15 inches from the center line of the toilet and any
sidewall or other obstructions.
Showers – shall have a minimum inside dimension of 900 square inches, capable of
encompassing a 30 inch circle and be finished 72 inches above the floor with non-
absorbent materials. Shower door minimum clear opening width is 22 inches (see section
P2708.1 exception 2) Shower door clearance shall have 24” in front of door opening.
- Bathroom - 15 or 20 Amp Dedicated Circuit to be GFCI
protected - min. one outlet within 36" of outside edge of
lav basin per lavatory located on an adjacent wall.
ELECTRICAL NOTES:

- Exterior walls adjacent to showers and tubs shall provide air barrier & insulated. See Table N1102.4.1.1
- Cement based substrate or equal on shower/tub walls
- Freeze Protect pipes per P2603.5
- Provide 50 cfm fan in bathroom - vented to exterior - when no natural ventilation is provided by window
- Provide Anti-Scald Valve on shower
