Bangs (or an employee under my direct supervision) being a duly licensed engineer in the State of Colorado have reviewed the existing condition of the framing of the roof for the above referenced single-family residential project. This letter is to address four (4) modifications to the approved plans. 1. The existing rafters do not meet design load criteria and require (1) 1 ¾”x 7 ¼” LVL to be sistered to each side of the existing members. This configuration is acceptable to support the design loading for the roof structure. 2. The existing ridge beam conditions do not meet design load criteria and requires the installation of a (3)1 ¾”x9 ½” LVL or a 5 1/8”x12” 24F-V4 Glulam beam, bearing on either end and an intermediate point near the entry of the proposed Bedroom 2. 3. The previously noted header on the upper level, at the entrance of the proposed master bedroom, will now need to be W8x13 steel beam. 4. The point loads from the header in item #3 will bear on new 10”x26”x26” pad footings in the crawlspace. Reinforcement will be (3)#4 bars each way.
