The beam span is approximately 17 feet. The home is approximately 26 feet wide. I performed calculations for the subject beam using 55 psf snow load and 140 mph winds speed. I recommended the beam to be a double 1.75" x 16" LVL with a minimum of (3) 2 x 6 studs below each end, continuing down to the foundation, and steel straps at the beam ends and at the bottom of the stud packs. I visited the home after the structural work was completed. I found the work to be in substantial conformance with my recommendations. If you have any questions, please call.
