I believe my folks purchased the home in 1993 or 94 and the home had 4 Bedrooms when they bought it. My dad has since then passed away and My brother and I are the owners. I can't explain why the tax roll shows it otherwise as the house has always had 4 bedrooms . Please let me know what I need to do to continue my rental license I have paid the license fee for a 4 bedroom home I thought everything was ok. Thank you for your help with this ! I understand the confusion and your concern. My office is committed to assisting you in accomplishing your goals. To that end, I have reviewed the records in the Building Division, which are the official records as to what construction has been permitted and what uses have been approved. According to these records, you property was originally approved and constructed with two bedrooms upstairs. Downstairs there were two rooms finished but they were not identified as bedrooms on the original plans. The remainder of the lower level was unfinished. There are no subsequent records to finish the lower level or to use the two lower level rooms as bedrooms. The reason this is important, is because rooms used for sleeping purposes are required to meet specific code requirements which are not required for other rooms. Therefore, if you want to use rooms for bedrooms, which were not previously identified as bedrooms, then you must apply for a change of use permit for those rooms. The building inspector will then perform an inspection to verify the rooms meet the requirements specific to rooms used for sleeping purposes. If there are any non -compliant issues, you will be advised of them. You can then make an informed decision as how to proceed.
